3C Films and VIA X Films Begin Production on a Documentary About Diego Maradona

May 14, 2026

"El Diego que nadie vio" will include previously unseen archival footage and offer a personal portrait of the global football icon, with a release planned for 2026.
Production companies 3C Films and VIA X Films have announced that "El Diego que nadie vio" is currently in production — a feature-length documentary that will offer a deeply personal portrait of global football icon Diego Armando Maradona. The project aims to present a more intimate and human perspective on the Argentine legend, setting itself apart from previous biographical works.
Unlike other documentaries focused on Maradona's public career, "El Diego que nadie vio" is built around previously unseen archival material captured by his personal photographer, Jorge Luengo — a close friend who witnessed many of the footballer's most vulnerable and private moments. The film places this exclusive archive at the narrative core of a story that explores the man behind the myth.
The documentary is being produced as a 90-minute feature in Spanish, in 4K format and 16:9 aspect ratio. It remains in the production phase, with Juan Crespo serving as executive producer. Crespo anticipates a release in the second half of 2026.
International distribution will be handled by Grey Juice Lab, underscoring the producers' ambition to position the documentary in front of global audiences drawn to Maradona's enduring legacy.
